Saturday April 14, 1-4 pm, Carroll Gardens/Brooklyn Tasting

We're expanding to Brooklyn! And to kick off this exciting development, our dear friend and inspiring mom Shannon O'Kelley White Rivero (and her darling Chow Baby Billie Jo) is hosting a tasting at Porchetta restaurant. The address is 241 Smith Street @ Douglass, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, NY. Phone number is 718.237.9100 . Please join us for an all organic gourmet baby/toddler food tasting. All you need is a bib and your children and their appetites! Porchetta will be open, so parents can order food if they're hungry, too. Directions? Take the F or G train to Bergen St. You'll get out on the corner of Smith St. Walk along Smith st. in the opposite direction of traffic just a couple of blocks to Douglass St. Porchetta is there on the corner, next to American Apparel. Spread the word!

hey michelle! thanks so much for allowing us the opportunity to have a chowbaby tasting at porchetta. i had a really great time and i know my friends did too. i still have a bunch of food, but billie is loving it. she's eating more now that ever, i'm guessing it's because cheerios and rice cakes weren't exactly thrilling.

i'm wondering - how many times should i be feeding her each day? we've been having a muffin in the morning with some fruit [she doesnt eat the whole muffin, i help] and then 2 more times during the day she'll eat one serving of like, the black beans and yams, or the tuscan pasta, or the lentil stew - and some times i'll add apricots or pears or something like that to one of the meals. is that often enough? she's 11 mos now. thanks again!

hey shannon! i had a great time, too! thanks for hosting! loved meeting all your 718 friends!

there's no one right answer to the question: how much should my child eat? it varies from child to child. day to day. even meal to meal. teething, growth spurts, travel, environment. i've seen all of these things affect atticus' appetite. the rule of thumb that many experts suggest that i follow is to let your child eat what he wants (assuming we're offering healthy options), when he wants, and in whatever amounts he wants. it is said that a healthy child offered healthy options will naturally self-regulate. i think that is totally amazing! and it seems to be pretty true in our case.

atticus is a big eater. like his mama! lol! at 11 months, he was eating about 2-3 cubes per meal. that's an average. sometimes it was 1. sometimes 4. and i introduced snacks between meals around 10 months. teething biscotti, purely o's, fruit and yogurt, etc. he gobbled those up too.

the important thing is that your child is healthy and thriving. and i know biliie jo is--i saw her krumping!

i have a complete answer to this questions with guidelines available here:
